First Communion

Episcopal Church Communion Instruction for Children

In the Episcopal Church we live into the theology that Baptism is full initiation into the Body of Christ, which means that, once you are baptized, you are able to receive Communion.  At St. Matthew’s we would like to provide parents with the tools they need to make these spiritual decisions, as well as better prepare our youngest members to understand the beauty and tradition of the Eucharist.  While not required, we hope that this fun and spiritually-engaging class will help parents and children feel more comfortable with the practice of receiving Communion.

We are very pleased to announce that we have found a wonderful Episcopal Church program called This Bread & This Cup.
This is a five-week class devoted to teaching our children about the Eucharist.
The classes are short in length - about 30 to 40 minutes per session.
Parent(s) are required to attend all five sessions with their children.

If you are interested in learning more about this program, or having your child attend these classes,
please
call the office at 480.899.7386 OR contact Amy Trias at amy@saintmatthewschurch.org
